eBay title checker

Paste or type a listing title. You’ll see the character count against eBay’s 80-character limit, what buyers read first, and what to cut or add.

What the checker looks at

  • Length. eBay allows 80 characters including spaces. Strong titles use most of them.
  • The first few words. Buyers scan the start of a title, and small screens can cut long titles off, so lead with brand and item type.
  • Filler words like WOW, L@@K, must see or beautiful. Nobody searches for them.
  • All caps and symbols. They don’t help search and use up characters. Short acronyms like NWT are fine.
  • Repeated words. A word counts once, however many times it appears.
  • Keyword stuffing, such as “not Gucci” or “Levi’s style”. eBay can remove listings that add brands to attract searches.
  • Words to use carefully, like vintage, rare or authentic. Only include them when you can back them up.
  • Size, for clothing and shoes, written the way buyers filter.

Questions

What is the eBay title character limit?

eBay titles can be up to 80 characters, including spaces. This checker counts characters the same way and shows where a longer title would be cut.

Does this tool connect to eBay?

No. Everything runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent anywhere. It checks your title against common best practices; it can’t see how eBay ranks a specific listing.

Is this an official eBay tool?

No. It’s a free tool from Thrift Hunt and isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by eBay.
